Weinbrenner Shoe Company: A Century of Lasting Quality
1892: At the young age of 27, Albert H. Weinbrenner opens a cobblery in Milwaukee, partnering with Joseph Peffer to serve the "Jobbing" trades.
1900: The Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. is formed.
1916: The company prints its first catalog and boasts more leather cutting machines than any other in the U.S.
1917: The "Job-fitted" concept is introduced, and Weinbrenner becomes a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.
1938: The company takes its first steps into safety footwear production.
1942: Celebrating 50 years in business, the company converts to all-military footwear for the duration of World War II, producing combat and dress styles. This military footwear also becomes popular with civilians.
1943: The company's workers organize under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, but the management-worker relationship remains outstanding.
1964: The iconic "Hike n' Camp" boot, featuring a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, is introduced and becomes the company's best-selling boot of all time.
1988: The company is purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division is created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear.
1992: Weinbrenner celebrates 100 years in business with the theme "A Century of Lasting Quality."
2000: Weinbrenner employees take ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
2001: Within three days of the September 11 attacks, Weinbrenner donates 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero, followed by an additional 200 pairs.
2014: The "1892 Heritage" line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots is introduced, built on the iconic No. 60 last.
2017: Weinbrenner celebrates its 125th anniversary and demonstrates a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
2022: Weinbrenner celebrates 130 years as a company with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of its first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons.
2023: Sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and expands with many new styles on the horizon.

Thorogood's Made in USA footwear is either Berry Compliant (100% Made in the USA with USA components) or Made in the USA with domestic and globally sourced components, all assembled at the company's two union factories in Wisconsin.
