Thorogood's Tobacco brown Wellington work boot design (804-4205) is made from PREMIUM FULL-GRAIN LEATHER and is both comfortable and durable for punishing jobs. These AMERICAN MADE boots are crafted by skilled workers at Thorogood's US plants using USA and globally sourced components.
The STEEL TOE BOOTS FOR MEN protect the feet from on-site impact and compression hazards, while the design keeps them light and flexible, making these American Heritage Wellingtons some of the best safety toe boots for men with dangerous jobs. They meet ASTM F2413-18 safety toe standards.
The MAXWEAR WEDGE™ TRACTION OUTSOLE is made of a material that flexes better than other work boot outsoles, absorbing impacts and protecting the feet and ankles while working on loose gravel and wet and oily surfaces. These boots also meet ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards.
The REMOVABLE ULTIMATE SHOCK ABSORPTION FOOTBED on Poron Comfort Cushion Insole provides dual-density cushioning with air-permeable open cells that resist moisture and absorb shock, making these one of the most comfortable mens work boots available.
The GOODYEAR WELT CONSTRUCTION provides superior wear resistance and moisture seal between the upper and midsole, ensuring these boots are extremely dependable, long-lasting, and fully-serviceable. The FIBERGLASS SHANK CONSTRUCTION gives these tough mens boots the flex and strength needed to maintain their shape under heavy duress, and the 11-inch flexible ankle support keeps the wearer secure.
Thorogood's history dates back to 1892 when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. The company has since expanded, introducing the "Job-fitted" concept in 1917, becoming a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army in World War I, and taking the first steps into safety footwear production in 1938.
In 1964, Thorogood introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot: The Hike n' Camp, with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, which became the company's best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design today.
The company was purchased by a local group including six employees in 1988, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. In 2000, Thorogood employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP.
Thorogood celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1992, its 125th in 2017, and its 130th in 2022, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. Sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and expands with many new styles on the horizon.
