The Thorogood Square Toe Wellington work boots are crafted with durability and comfort in mind. Featuring a full-grain leather upper with a Pebble Brown bottom, these boots boast a 3-tone decorative shaft stitching and pull loops for easy entry.
The boots are made in the USA or imported, with a rubber sole material and a leather outer. The closure type is Pull-On. The removable Ultimate Shock Absorption footbed provides ultra-comfort, ensuring a cushioned step.
Tested to ASTM F3445-21 industry criteria, the footwear offers slip-resistance, and the Wyatt90 oil-resisting outsole is designed to withstand or reduce damage from oil. Additionally, these boots meet ASTM F2413-18 or ASTM F2892-18 electrical hazard resistance safety standards, providing protection against electric shocks.
Thorogood, a brand with a rich heritage, has a storied past dating back to its founding in 1892. At the age of 27, Albert H. Weinbrenner opened a cobblery in Milwaukee, partnering with Joseph Peffer to serve the "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was officially formed.
The company's first catalog was printed in 1916, and it had more leather cutting machines than any other in the U.S. at the time. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I.
In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and in 1942, it celebrated 50 years in business, converting to all-military footwear for the duration of World War II, producing combat and dress styles. These military-inspired designs also gained popularity with civilians.
In 1943, the company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, and management and workers have maintained an outstanding relationship to this day. The iconic Hike n' Camp boot, featuring a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, was introduced in 1964 and became the company's best-selling boot of all time.
In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. Weinbrenner celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1992 with the theme "A Century of Lasting Quality."
In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan). Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, the company donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero within three days, with an additional 200 pairs following.
Today, Weinbrenner continues to celebrate its rich history, having recently opened a new factory in Merrill, WI, and launched its first western wear product, the Thorogood Square Toe Wellingtons, in 2022. As Thorogood's popularity grows, the brand remains committed to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, manufacturing methods, and computer systems.
