Thorogood's work boots are made with a focus on durability, comfort, and safety. These boots are crafted by skilled American workers in the company's U.S. plants, utilizing a blend of USA-sourced and globally-sourced components.
The boots feature a 100% full-grain leather upper, providing a comfortable and long-lasting fit for demanding jobs. The MAXWEAR WEDGE SLIP-RESISTANT OUTSOLE, which meets ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards, flexes better than other work boot outsoles, absorbing impacts and protecting the feet and ankles while working on difficult surfaces. The outsole also keeps the wearer stable on flat, wet, and oily surfaces, as well as loose gravel, and it lasts longer than blown rubber outsoles.
In addition to slip-resistance, the boots meet ASTM F2892-18 electrical hazard safety standards, providing protection against electrical shocks. The removable Ultimate Shock Absorption Footbed, made with dual-density polyurethane, helps absorb impacts and wick away moisture, ensuring exceptional comfort for the wearer.
The boots are constructed using Goodyear Storm Welt, a superior method that provides increased wear resistance and a reliable moisture seal between the upper and midsole, making these boots extremely durable and long-lasting.
Thorogood's rich history dates back to 1892, when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with a partner, Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. Over the decades, the company has evolved, becoming a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army during World War I, introducing the iconic Hike n' Camp boot in 1964, and transitioning to employee ownership through an ESOP in 2000.
In 2022, Thorogood celebrated 130 years as a company, marking the opening of a new factory in Merrill, Wisconsin, and the launch of their first western wear product, the Thorogood Square Toe Wellingtons. As the brand continues to gain popularity, Thorogood is demonstrating a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
