Thorogood's moc toe work boot design in durable full-grain leather is both comfortable and able to withstand punishing jobs. Available in Tobacco (804-4208), Trail Crazyhorse (804-4478), and Midnight Black (804-6208), these boots are made in the USA with USA and globally sourced components by skilled craftsmen and women.
Featuring a MAXWEAR WEDGE™ TRACTION OUTSOLE, these boots flex better than other work boot outsoles, absorbing impacts and protecting your feet and ankles while working on difficult surfaces, keeping you on your feet on loose gravel and wet and oily surfaces. The outsole meets ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards.
The steel toe boots for men protect your feet from on-site impact and compression hazards while the design keeps them light and flexible, making them some of the best safety toe boots for men with dangerous jobs. They meet ASTM F2413-18 safety toe standards.
These MAXWear Wedge work boots also meet ASTM F2413-18 electrical hazard resistance safety standards, and have a removable ultimate shock absorption footbed that uses dual-density polyurethane concentrated under the heel and ball strike zone to absorb impacts and wick away moisture, providing the most comfortable men's work boots.
The Thorogood brand has a rich history dating back to 1892, when Albert H. Weinbrenner opened a cobblery in Milwaukee, serving the "Jobbing" trades. In 1916, the company printed its first catalog and became the largest leather cutting machine operator in the US. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and the company became a major contributor of boots to the US Army in World War I.
In 1938, the company took its first steps into safety footwear production, and during World War II, it converted to all-military footwear, producing combat and dress styles that also became popular with civilians. The company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union in 1943, and management and workers have maintained an outstanding relationship through today.
The company's iconic Hike n' Camp boot, introduced in 1964, became the best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design. In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group including six employees, and the ThoroGard division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear.
In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP, and in 2001, the company donated hundreds of pairs of work boots to Ground Zero in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced in 2014, and the company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2017, demonstrating a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving its domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs.
In 2022, Weinbrenner celebrated 130 years as a company, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. Sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and expands with many new styles on the horizon.
