Shop / thorogood work boots for men
Thorogood's durable full-grain leather boots in the brand's moc toe work boot design offer both comfort and resilience for demanding jobs. These boots are available in three color options: Tobacco (804-4208), Trail Crazyhorse (804-4478), and Midnight Black (804-6208). Crafted in the USA with a combination of domestic and globally sourced components, these American Heritage boots are made by the skilled artisans at Thorogood's US-based facilities.
The boots feature a MAXWEAR WEDGE™ TRACTION OUTSOLE that flexes more easily than other work boot outsoles. This outsole absorbs impacts and protects the feet and ankles while working on challenging surfaces, keeping the wearer stable on loose gravel, wet, and oily surfaces. The outsole meets ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards.
The steel toe boots for men safeguard the feet from on-site impact and compression hazards, while the design maintains a light and flexible feel. These safety toe boots meet ASTM F2413-18 safety standards. The removable Ultimate Shock Absorption Footbed, made with dual-density polyurethane concentrated under the heel and ball strike zone, absorbs impacts and wicks away moisture, ensuring maximum comfort for the wearer.
Thorogood's history dates back to 1892, when 27-year-old Albert H. Weinbrenner opened a cobblery in Milwaukee, partnering with Joseph Peffer to serve the "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed, and the company printed its first catalog in 1916, boasting more leather-cutting machines than any other in the US. The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the US Army during World War I.
The company took its first steps into safety footwear production in 1938 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1942, converting to all-military footwear for the duration of World War II. After the war, military footwear also became popular with civilians. In 1943, the company's workers organized under the International Boot & Shoe Workers Union, and management and workers have maintained an outstanding relationship to this day.
In 1964, Thorogood introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot, the Hike n' Camp, with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching. This boot became the company's best-selling model of all time and is still available in its original design today. The company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, in 1988, leading to the creation of the "ThoroGard" division featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear.
Thorogood celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1992 and its 125th in 2017, demonstrating a renewed commitment to upgrading and improving domestic facilities, machines, equipment, manufacturing methods, and computer systems/programs. In 2022, the company celebrated 130 years of operation, opening a new factory in Merrill, WI, and launching its first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons.
