Shop / thorogood steel toe boots for men
The skilled craftsmen and women at Thorogood's US plants produce AMERICAN MADE boots with USA and globally sourced components. These DURABLE OIL-TANNED FULL-GRAIN LEATHER boots in Thorogood's moc toe, non-safety toe design are comfortable and withstand punishing jobs. Available in tobacco brown (814-4200), Trail Crazyhorse brown (814-4203), black with ivory sole (814-6201), and black with black sole (814-6206), the boots feature a MAXWEAR WEDGE TRACTION OUTSOLE that flexes better than other work boot outsoles, absorbing impacts and protecting your feet and ankles while working on difficult surfaces, keeping you on your feet even on loose gravel and wet and oily surfaces. Meets ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards.
These MAXWear Wedge work boots also meet ASTM F2892-18 electrical hazard resistance safety standards. The REMOVABLE ULTIMATE SHOCK ABSORPTION FOOTBED uses dual-density polyurethane concentrated under heel and ball strike zones to absorb impacts and wick away moisture, providing the most comfortable men's work boots.
The GOODYEAR STORM WELT CONSTRUCTION provides superior wear resistance and moisture seal between upper and midsole, making these extremely dependable and long-lasting mens boots.
Thorogood's history dates back to 1892 when 27-year-old Albert H. Weinbrenner opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner Joseph Peffer, serving "Jobbing" trades. The Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed in 1900, and the first catalog was printed in 1916, with the company having more leather cutting machines than any other in the U.S. In 1917, the "Job-fitted" concept was introduced, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the U.S. Army in WWI.
The company took its first steps into safety footwear production in 1938 and celebrated 50 years in business in 1942, converting to all-military footwear for the duration of WWII, producing combat and dress styles. Military footwear also became popular with civilians.
In 1964, the company introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot: The Hike n' Camp, with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, which became the company's best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design today.
In 1988, the company was purchased by a local group, including six employees, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. The company was employee-owned through an ESOP in 2000, and in 2001, donated 300 pairs of durable work boots to Ground Zero within three days of the September 11 terror attacks, followed by another 200 pairs.
The 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced in 2014, built on the iconic No. 60 last. Weinbrenner celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 2017 and its 130th in 2022, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. Sales continue to increase as Thorogood gains popularity and expands with many new styles on the horizon.
