The boots' MAXWEAR Wedge™ Traction Outsole flexes better than standard work boot soles, absorbing impacts and providing secure footing on wet and oily surfaces. The outsole meets ASTM F3445-21 slip-resistance standards for work boots.

With an 8-inch shaft height, these waterproof boots are equipped with a gusseted tongue to keep water and liquids at bay. The moisture-wicking lining inside pulls sweat away, ensuring a comfortable working experience. Thorogood's heritage dates back to 1892 when Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opened a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner Joseph Peffer, serving the "Jobbing" trades. In 1900, the Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. was formed, and the company's first catalog was printed in 1916, showcasing more leather cutting machines than any other in the US.

The "Job-fitted" concept was introduced in 1917, and Weinbrenner became a major contributor of boots to the US Army during World War I. The company took its first steps into safety footwear production in 1938 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1942, converting to all-military footwear for the duration of World War II.

In 1964, the company introduced the Official Boy Scout Boot, the Hike n' Camp, with a wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching, which became the company's best-selling boot of all time and is still available in its original design.

Weinbrenner was purchased by a local group, including six employees, in 1988, and the "ThoroGard" division was created, featuring high-tech occupational safety footwear. In 2000, Weinbrenner employees took ownership of the company through an ESOP, and the 1892 Heritage line of handcrafted, lifestyle boots was introduced in 2014.

Today, Thorogood celebrates 130 years as a company, with the opening of a new factory in Merrill, WI and the launch of the first western wear product, Thorogood's Square Toe Wellingtons. As the brand's popularity continues to grow, new styles are on the horizon, reflecting Thorogood's commitment to quality and innovation.
